Memorial Day Pinwheel Galaxy, M101

This is my M101 data from Flagstaff, Arizona, over th e 2022 Memorial Day holliday. I combined my one shot color and H alpha data from my Optolong L-eHance multi-narrowband filter. The Pinwheel Galaxy is the 3rd largest galaxy visible in the skyoutside of the Milky Way. It is a spectacular spiral almost face on 22 million light years away.

The cropped image below is linked to the full size original image.

A total of 50 five minute exposoures were taken, half with an Optolong L-eNhance multi-narrowband filter for H alpha data, and half with a Baader UV/IR cut filter. I used a William Optics RedCat 250/51mm telescope, ZWO ASI 533 MC camera, and SkyWatcher AZ-EQ5 mount, ASI EAF and guide camera. All were controlled with a ZWO ASIAir Plus Controller. Processed in PixInsight, StarNet 2, Topaz DeNoise, and Photoshop.
