Only two weeks to go to the Great American Eclipse and I've started pre-packing. I'm feeling that the item below will definitely mark me as an alien in my visit to 19th century America.
When I won this pair of Orion Astro Goggles at the Mid-South Star Gaze, I made a joke of not needing to bother with red flashlights anymore. Now I'm thinking a lot about how I'm going dark adapt to see the solar corona. I'm not laughing anymore, these bad boys may make the cut.
An addendum from my attorney, these are not safe for direct observation of the sun. See Safe Solar Viewing for suggestions.
