North and South of Elgin along Texas 95 give nearby access to darker skies east of Austin. Parks and parking lots for schools and businesses along and near Tx 95 may offor opportunities. North on 95 is the small community of Coupland with an old inn and dance hall open Friday and Saturday nights where you can wait for the skies to get dark. The usual cautions apply, be nice, scout ahead, and ask for permission.
