Transit of Mercury

Transit of Mercury

The 2016 May 9 transit of the Sun by Mercury started before dawn in Texas and to cloudy skies in Austin. I drove about 80 miles to Lomita, where I expected the skies to clear in time for most of the transit. I was able to use the wireless live view on my iPad to the Sony a6300 to give visitors to park view of the transit while photographing it. I had to dodge clouds at times and the wind occasionally made a kazoo out of my mylar film solar filter. Questar 3.5" with a Sony a6300 at prime focus. Images composited in Photoshop. Reworked to normalized exposures of transit images.
